We are so excited for Jessica & Mickey on their recent engagement. Chloe and the entire Malka team are honored to work on this ring which plays center stage in their proposal story! Thank you for sharing your story with us!
“Mickey and I are both from the same town, but we are seven years apart so we had never crossed paths. In 2015, I was still living in Longview and he was living in McMinnville. I worked at a frozen yogurt shop, and my boss was good friends with his mom. She told me I needed to meet Mickey and coincidentally, he was in town a couple of days later. He was getting a haircut where my friend worked, so I took my friend a coffee while he was there. Little did I know that this one coffee run would change my life forever… I didn’t talk to Mickey when he was getting his haircut, because I was WAY too shy! But, I scoped him out and eventually messaged him on Facebook the next day. He was like, “Do I know you?” I was so embarrassed, but explained that we knew some mutual friends. We continued the conversation, exchanged phone numbers and two days later I asked him out to coffee. We had coffee, a long conversation and continued spending time together.
A few years later, we moved in together and we started to look at rings. I searched online for jewelry stores in Portland and Malka had such great reviews. I told Mickey we should just go look, because I wasn’t really sure what kind of ring I wanted. Malka was the first diamond store we went to and from the minute we stepped in, we felt welcome and could tell how much the Malka team cared. They showed us the rings in the cases and they sat down with us and went over everything we needed to know when picking out a ring. We left that day and I told Mickey, “I want to go back there!” A few weeks later, we told them our budget, what I wanted, and designed a ring! I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out!
Mickey and I were about to go to Bellevue for a couple days to celebrate my birthday, and I just had this feeling we were going to get engaged! He was staying at work late, going to his parents house because he had to “pick up my birthday gift” and I caught him going through pictures of us on my computer (which he never does). So we had plans to a really fancy Italian restaurant on Friday night and I dressed up all nice. Well… we had a lot of fun that night but still no ring! So I thought, “Maybe tomorrow when we’re walking around in Seattle?” Nope, he didn’t propose in Seattle either. On Sunday, I was at home getting things done and then getting ready to go to dinner at my parents’ house. Usually Mickey is ready before me and he’s watching TV or on his phone or something, but he was just sitting on the couch. I thought it was weird and I asked, “What’s up?” He said, “Nothing.” I finished getting ready and was ready to go. He gave me a hug and I could hear his heart beating super loud and I asked, “Why is your heart beating so fast?” Next thing I knew, he was down on one knee, asking me to marry him! We laughed, we cried and we got engaged! I get SO excited to put my beautiful ring on every morning, and I get to wear it for the rest of my life! “
