Art Deco Vintage Ring Finds A Home, Congratulations Shawn & Michelle!
This amazing antique engagement ring found its way into Malka Diamonds of Portland Oregon a few months ago. We came across it while a vintage vendor was in from New York. It needed some love and our jeweler, David, took his time and restored the 1920s diamond ring to look as it did when it was originally crafted. It was so stunning and mouth-dropping David Malka and I had a hard time placing it in the case. We knew it would go quickly and we most likely wouldn't see a similar one for quite a while, if ever. Two weeks ago, Shawn came in. He was asking about sapphires and wanted a simple solitaire. We talked for a while and then somehow we gravitated to this stunning vintage engagement ring and he was hooked.
He said it was perfect. The art deco piece houses a 1.10 carat center european-cut round diamond. European-cut diamonds were seen during the early 1900s. We always partner our vintage and antique rings with diamonds cut in the same era. The european-cut stones tend to have a color to them and inclusions giving them a vintage look. They don't usually compare to the modern brilliant cut diamonds that we have today. However, Shawn's ring was not only a unique ring of its time it had an E color with a high clarity as well. Shawn purchased the ring the same day he laid eyes on it. He proposed to Michelle shortly after and the two returned last weekend to size it. Congratulations Michelle & Shawn! We are so thrilled this beautiful ring found its way to such a wonderful couple!
