At Malka Diamonds, our collection of vintage jewelry and antique engagement rings span throughout the ages. A few of our favorite time periods and styles include Art Deco, Edwardian, Victorian, Retro, Art Nouveau, and Mid-Century.
Vintage Diamond Cuts
Our jewelers may combine vintage diamonds with a vintage band to create a custom, antique ring. We take special care to ensure the ring houses a diamond that is of the same era. Common vintage diamond cuts include the Rose Cut, Old Mine Cut, Old European Cut and Transition Cut.

Frequently Asked Questions
I’ve never purchased a diamond before. I don’t have a clue what I’m doing. Can you help?
Take a deep breath and relax. Many of our customers are buying a diamond for the first time. We believe you don’t have to be a diamond expert to find the perfect vintage ring. That’s why we’re here to help! When you visit Malka Diamonds, there’s never any need to worry or feel stressed. We’ll teach you everything you need to know!
Where do you find your vintage collection?
Every year we attend vintage jewelry shows. In addition, we have several antique and vintage vendors we work with to curate the large collection we house.
Do you restore the vintage rings in your collection?
All vintage and antique rings are inspected and restored by our gemologists and jewelers to make sure they are ready for sale. Most rings will need some time on the jewelers bench to restore the original look of the ring and to get it ready for the busy hands of the modern bride.
Can you tell me about the history of an antique ring?
We can always tell you about the era of the ring. Sometimes the piece has a date engraved in the shank but otherwise our vintage rings usually don’t have any paperwork describing their history.
Can you use a vintage ring as a model for a custom ring?
Yes! Using a vintage ring for inspiration is one of our favorite ways to help create a custom ring that you’ll love!
What is a GIA certified gemologist?
GIA is the Gemological Institute of America, a nonprofit institute that focuses on gemology education and research. To become a GIA certified gemologist requires 6 months of rigorous full-time study and hands-on training. It is the highest certification available. Many Portland jewelry stores do not employ any GIA certified gemologists.
Here at Malka Diamonds, we employ 2 GIA certified gemologists. With their advanced training and decades of experience, they’re able to inspect and certify all of our vintage diamond rings.
Do I need to know my partner’s ring size?
No! Our vintage rings can be resized to fit your partner’s finger and you don’t need to know his or her size when buying a ring. In our experience, most people don’t know their true ring size. It’s best to bring your partner back in for an accurate ring sizing by one of our experienced jewelers after the proposal.
Do your rings include cleaning and maintenance?
Yes! Regular cleaning and maintenance not only improves an antique ring’s appearance, but its durability as well. Most rings will benefit from a cleaning twice a year or so.
When I buy a vintage ring do you recommend an appraisal?
Not only do we recommend it (an appraisal is needed for insurance purposes) but we’ll include an appraisal with your vintage ring purchase. As certified GIA gemologists, we are happy to offer this service at no added cost to you. In fact, we don’t believe in adding on hidden costs or extra charges-- ever.
